9, 10 year old Whiz Kids wins Junior/Senior Categories wins Aimee Spelling Bee Competition Season 2

The season two of the Aimee Spelling Bee competition has ended with a young prodigy, a 9 year old – Osariemen Omosigho winning the junior category and 10 year old Daniel Ojo won the senior category.

The junior category winner from a pool of 100 participants while the senior category had 80.

Amy Afebuame, the convener of the spelling bee competition, who through her passion for kids had been running a book club explained that the competition was to bring healthy rivalry between kids aged 7 and 13.

She however lamented that the programme was almost without a sponsor for the first edition but the second had an improvement.

Some of the games competed for were Scrabble, Chess with Gbadebo Valentine, 10, emerging tops in Chess board game; while Oladunjoye Seyifunmi, 8, was the master at the Scrabble board game and the SmartKids board winner was Richard David.

Others who went home with prizes at the event are Dukiaoluwa Olohunkoya, 8, the 1st runner-up at the junior category in Spelling Bee and Madu Kosisochukwu, 8, being the 2nd runner-up.

However, the senior category had Gabrielle Abidakun, 10, as the 1st runner-up and Odofin Moyinoluwa, 13, was the 2nd runner-up.

Winners were rewarded with trophies and cash prizes; 1st placed cart away ₦100,000 and the 2nd placed got ₦50,000 while the 3rd placed had ₦30,000 as well as vouchers up to ₦50,000 for book shopping.

The Spelling Bee and Games Board Game Competition is open to individual pupils aged six through thirteen.
