Africa Magic Celebrates 15 Years of Entertaining Africa

Africa’s leading provider of entertainment content for Africa by Africans, Africa Magic, is celebrating 15 years of magic, quality content and the continuous development of the local African television entertainment industry.

The channel has grew from her two in 2003 channels to six to include indigenous channels for Nigerians which includes Africa Magic Yorùbá, Africa Magic Hausa and Africa Magic Igbo respectively.

The Africa Magic channel director, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, was quoted as saying: “For 15 years the Africa Magic channels have entertained viewers and audiences with the best content coming from some of the most amazing talent behind and in front of the cameras. In doing this, we have also undoubtedly led the development of the current African television entertainment scene, a role we continue to play.”

Mr. John Ugbe, the CEO of MultiChoice Nigeria while sharing his excitement on the milestone, said that:

The celebration of Africa Magic is also the celebration of Africa’s film and television industry. The growth witnessed in the industry can be linked to the impact of the Africa Magic channels in operation across 53 countries on the continent. The Africa Magic channels have also consistently proven to be a platform for the unearthing, promotion and celebration of existing and up and coming film and TV talent, and the channels’ various means and models of industry partnerships ensure a steady line of critical investment in the industry.”

From her flagship TV drama, Tinsel, which holds the record for the longest running series in Sub Saharan Africa, Africa Magic had developed original contents in entertaining her audience.

The channel also features a host of different genres in entertaining Africa such as the comedy series of the Johnson Family and Hustle, as well as Ajoche, Hotel Majestic, Jara amongst others.
