In response to Nigeria’s escalating food security crisis, Origin Tech Group has launched a groundbreaking initiative, the Greener Hope Agriculture Mechanization Productivity Programme (GHAPP).
This strategic programme is designed to significantly enhance food production, strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural resilience, and contribute to national food security by boosting food output by over 2 million metric tonnes.
Nigeria’s food security challenges have been exacerbated by several factors, including border insecurity, uncontrolled immigration, and rampant smuggling, which have disrupted key agricultural regions.
As the nation struggles with the worsening food crisis, the GHAPP initiative serves as a solution, leveraging cutting-edge agricultural technologies and mechanization to address these issues and create a more stable and prosperous future for Nigerians.
The Greener Hope Programme directly aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Executive Order on Food Security and aims to play a key role in national recovery efforts.
It seeks to increase food production through the strategic deployment of advanced agricultural machinery, optimized land use, and targeted investments in both production and processing.
Prince Samuel Joseph Samuel, Executive Chairman of Origin Tech Group, highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving the programme’s goals, stating:
“The Greener Hope Agriculture Productivity Programme is a collaborative effort with Federal, State, and Local governments, as well as private sector partners.
Our goal is to increase food production by over 2 million metric tonnes and significantly boost Nigeria’s agricultural sector’s contribution to the GDP.”
The programme will establish large-scale commercial farming hubs across the country, enhancing the productivity of local farmers by providing them with access to mechanized tools, modern technologies, and optimized farming methods. This will not only improve crop yields but also help reduce post-harvest losses, which have long plagued Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The initiative is backed by a consortium of global partners, including the Brazilian Government and Deutsche Bank Group, with substantial multi-million-dollar investments.
Origin Tech Group will leverage its extensive experience in delivering innovative home-grown solutions across various sectors, making it well-positioned to drive the success of GHAPP.
During a recent meeting in Abuja, Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari CON, reiterated the programme’s importance, emphasizing that it would foster agricultural mechanization and ensure food sufficiency nationwide.
The initiative not only targets food production but also supports local industries, creating a more robust Agro-value chain and reinforcing Nigeria’s economic stability.
For over 25 years, Origin Tech Group has been a leader in sectors ranging from agriculture and food systems to automotive and civil engineering. The Greener Hope Agricultural Productivity Programme marks another milestone in the company’s long-standing commitment to fostering sustainable development and economic growth in Nigeria.
