PaylaterNG changes name to Carbon
One of Nigeria’s leading digital lending platform, PayLater, has now rebranded to be known as Carbon. In their recent updates via the digital platforms, Paylater had kept her users on suspense with notifications such as what does your name mean? This is the last email you will be receiving, etc and had even hinted on the a revolution coming up on April 5th in a tweet.
The rebranding is coming within a week of PiggyBank rebranding to PiggyVest.
The digital lender was launched in March 2016 and revolutionised finance with the introduction of instant loans and some other added new services to make transacting cheaper and completely seamless at a time when a few can think of getting a loan without collateral.
After introducing instant loans, they added new services such as bill payments, airtime purchases, free credit reports, investments, personal finance management.
On why the choice of the name Carbon, Paylater explained that they wanted an identity that positions them for growth, change and continued success. An identity that looks to the future but can also capture even that which is not yet envisioned.
Also, Chijioke Dozie, CEO of Paylater explained that the choice of the name, carbon, was due to the fact that, carbon is:
- ESSENTIAL: “Carbon is essential for life as we know it and all organic compounds contain carbon”
- VERSATILE: Carbon is the most versatile element in the world.
