A Civic Education and Christian Religious Studies teacher based in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Mr Collins Ezem, has emerged as the 2019 Maltina Teacher of the Year, thereby taking home the ₦1 million prize money.
Ezem won ₦1m as the overall winner for the year and ₦500,000 as a state winner of the award held at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos on Friday.
He also won for his school a block of six classrooms as part of the Nigeria Breweries’ Education Trust Fund.
Entries for the 2019 competition attracted an unprecedented 1,310 entries from the 36 states of the federation including Abuja.
The Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr Jordi Borrut Bel said the competition had impacted over 35, 000 students, 74 communities, primary, secondary schools in the country.
