Dangote Industries Limited has once again asserted its dominance as Nigeria’s most valuable brand, topping the 2025 edition of the Top 50 Brands Nigeria ranking unveiled during the Brand Nigeria Leadership Forum held at Eko Atlantic City, Lagos.
The report, now in its 13th year, has become one of the nation’s most respected benchmarks for evaluating brand performance, trust, and corporate impact. Using its proprietary Brand Strength Measurement (BSM) Index, the ranking offers a data-driven insight into how well brands perform in the hearts and minds of Nigerian consumers.
With a BSM score of 86.3, Dangote retained the number one spot for the eighth consecutive year, reflecting its enduring leadership across Africa’s industrial landscape. The top five brands for 2025 also include MTN Nigeria (83.4 points), which emerged as the Most Popular Brand based on consumer perception, followed by Airtel Nigeria, Globacom, and Access Bank.
A Mirror of Nigeria’s Corporate Strength
According to Taiwo Oluboyede, Chief Brand Analyst and Convener of Top 50 Brands Nigeria, the ranking represents more than just corporate performance — it is a reflection of the evolving “Naija brand spirit” that drives innovation, resilience, and excellence across sectors.
“Brand is not just an essential component of an organisation; the brand is the organisation,” Oluboyede explained. “This ranking serves as a mirror that reflects how strongly brands are performing in the hearts and minds of Nigerians. Strong brands don’t just sell products; they build trust, inspire loyalty, and sustain growth even in challenging times.”
This year’s ranking features 25 Nigerian and 25 multinational brands, reinforcing the growing competitiveness of indigenous businesses in an increasingly global marketplace. Seven of the top ten brands are locally owned, underlining the strength and resilience of Nigerian enterprises despite macroeconomic pressures.
Sector Leaders and Market Trends
The banking and financial services sector once again dominated the list with 15 entries, showcasing its importance in driving economic stability and innovation. Telecoms brands — led by MTN, Airtel, Globacom, and 9mobile — also maintained strong consumer visibility, confirming the sector’s central role in digital inclusion and connectivity.
Emerging brands also made a statement in 2025. Opay Nigeria recorded the highest upward movement, climbing ten points on the BSM Index, while ThisDay Group and Moniepoint entered the rankings for the first time — a nod to the fast-evolving fintech and media landscapes in Nigeria.
The study also unveiled the “10 Brands to Watch” — a recognition of emerging brands demonstrating exceptional market momentum and innovation. The 2025 list includes PalmPay, Premium Trust Bank, Omniretail, Nomba, Moove, Johnvents, Greenville, Chowdeck, EAC, and Globus Bank.
The Science Behind the Rankings
Top 50 Brands Nigeria’s Brand Strength Measurement Model evaluates seven core variables:
- Top-of-the-Mind Awareness
- Online Engagement
- Sentiment Analysis
- Category Leadership
- Innovation and Quality
- National Spread
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
These factors combine to create a comprehensive index that measures both consumer perception and corporate performance. Political, religious, tobacco, and betting brands are excluded from evaluation for ethical reasons.
Celebrating the “Naija Spirit”
Oluboyede described the ranking as a celebration of corporate excellence and national resilience, adding that the initiative embodies the creativity and optimism that define the Nigerian identity.
“Beyond our natural resources, Nigeria’s greatest asset is her people — their innovation, optimism, and drive for success. The brands we celebrate today are powered by that same spirit,” he said.
The 2025 edition of Top 50 Brands Nigeria reaffirmed that the country’s corporate ecosystem continues to evolve through innovation, purpose, and consumer trust. From established giants like Dangote and MTN to fast-rising brands in technology and finance, Nigeria’s branding landscape reflects a market rich in ambition, creativity, and resilience.
