Unity Bank Plc has rolled out an upgraded version of its mobile banking application, Unifi, underscoring the lender’s ongoing push to strengthen digital banking delivery and enhance customer experience across its retail ecosystem.

The latest release, Unifi version 2.3, introduces a range of enhancements focused on usability, security, and transaction efficiency. The update features stronger security protocols, expanded quick-action options, improved bill payment functionality, and an enhanced Nigeria Quick Response (NQR) capability to support faster and more secure QR code payments.

The upgrade builds on Unity Bank’s sustained investment in digital infrastructure and cybersecurity, aimed at protecting customer data while enabling safe, real-time transactions across multiple channels. The bank says the improvements are designed to ensure reliability and confidence as more customers rely on mobile platforms for everyday banking needs.

Commenting on the development, Adenike Abimbola, Divisional Head, Retail, SME, Digital Banking and Fintech Partnerships at Unity Bank, said the latest version reflects continuous evaluation of the platform based on customer feedback gathered through ongoing interactions and engagements.

She noted that digital banking has become an essential part of daily life for retail customers who increasingly expect speed, convenience, dependability, and security as standard. According to her, the Unifi upgrade directly responds to these expectations by simplifying payment journeys, strengthening security features, and improving overall functionality to enable seamless banking anytime and anywhere.

Abimbola further reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to the continuous improvement of its digital channels in line with evolving customer needs and emerging industry trends. She explained that as mobile banking increasingly defines how customers interact with financial services, Unifi remains central to Unity Bank’s strategy of delivering intuitive, reliable, and inclusive digital solutions.

Originally launched to support Unity Bank’s retail expansion strategy, particularly among young and digitally savvy customers, Unifi has evolved into a key driver of customer acquisition and engagement. The platform plays a strategic role in reinforcing the bank’s broader digital transformation agenda and its ambition to deepen participation in e-business and financial inclusion.

Available on both Android and iOS devices, the Unifi mobile banking app provides customers with access to a wide range of services, including fund transfers, bill payments, airtime purchases, and QR-enabled transactions. With the latest upgrade, Unity Bank is positioning Unifi as a more robust and secure digital banking platform, aligned with the changing expectations of Nigeria’s increasingly digital-first banking audience.
